The following was again before the House in third reading: CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 245(JUD) "An Act relating to certain suits and claims by members of the military services; relating to certain suits and claims regarding acts or omissions of the organized militia; relating to workers' 2003-05-14 House Journal Page 1640 compensation and death benefits for members of the organized militia; relating to liability arising out of certain search and rescue, civil defense, fire management, and fire fighting activities; and providing for an effective date." Representative McGuire placed a call of the House. The Speaker stated the call was satisfied. The question to be reconsidered: "Shall CSHB 245(JUD) pass the House?" The roll was taken with the following result: CSHB 245(JUD)--RECONSIDERATION Third Reading Final Passage YEAS: 21 NAYS: 16 EXCUSED: 3 ABSENT: 0 Yeas: Anderson, Chenault, Coghill, Dahlstrom, Fate, Foster, Gatto, Harris, Hawker, Heinze, Holm, Kohring, McGuire, Meyer, Morgan, Rokeberg, Samuels, Stoltze, Whitaker, Williams, Wolf Nays: Berkowitz, Cissna, Crawford, Gara, Gruenberg, Guttenberg, Kapsner, Kerttula, Kookesh, Kott, Lynn, Masek, Moses, Ogg, Seaton, Weyhrauch Excused: Croft, Joule, Wilson Whitaker changed from "Nay" to "Yea". And so, CSHB 245(JUD) passed the House on reconsideration. Representative Coghill moved that the effective date clause be adopted. The question being: "Shall the effective date clause be adopted?" CSHB 245(JUD)(efd fld) was referred to the Chief Clerk for engrossment.
